PHILO — St. Thomas Catholic School is getting a pretty big chunk of change. It received a $1 million donation from a former student. Robert Trost graduated from the school in 1944 with seven other students. He went on to make a name for himself in corporate America as a recruiter. Now, he has a hand in real estate.

The school received donations from him in the past, but this year, he donated $1 million to form the Robert Trost Education Endowment. The money will be used to help with things like tuition assistance, new program development at the school or even teacher salaries.

Father Robert Lampitt says the school couldn’t survive without the parents and people in the community. He says, not everyone can give $1 million, but everyone in the community gives a million dollars worth of effort.
